Jabrin Castle, Fort and palace complex in Ad Dakhiliyah, Oman.

Jabrin Castle is a three-level fortified palace built with thick stone walls, defensive towers, and multiple courtyards linked by wooden staircases and narrow passageways. The structure combines defensive and residential features with carefully designed rooms serving different functions.

An Imam commissioned the construction of this castle in the late 1600s as a center for studying astronomy, medicine, and Islamic law. The building demonstrates how political and intellectual power were intertwined during that era.

The interior walls display hand-painted geometric and astronomical designs that reflect the scholarly interests of those who lived here. These decorations include carved wooden elements and intricate ceiling work that show how knowledge and art were valued in this place.

The castle sits about 150 kilometers from the capital and is open daily to visitors. Audio guides are available at the entrance to help you navigate through the different rooms and their purposes.

A specialized room inside features channels that once carried date juice into storage containers, showing how the castle managed its resources efficiently. Another space held a dedicated chamber for the Imam's horse, revealing details about daily life here.
