Manora Island is a peninsula near Karachi connected to the mainland by a sandbridge and positioned between the harbor and the sea. The landmass forms a natural protective barrier where a lighthouse and old fortifications stand.
A fort was built here in the 1790s to protect the harbor from pirates but was captured by British troops in 1839. The site then continued to serve as a strategic point for port control under British rule.
