Dom Weterana na Szelągu

Dom Weterana na Szelągu is a modernist residential building comprising two opposing wings, each four stories tall and organized around a central courtyard. The terraces step down the slope with views toward the Warta Valley, ensuring that rooms throughout the structure receive natural light and outdoor access.

This residence was built between 1969 and 1972 to provide housing for military veterans following their service. The project represented Poland's commitment to caring for those who had sacrificed for the nation during a period of postwar reconstruction.

This home was established as a place for military veterans to live with dignity and community, honoring their service through dedicated residential spaces.

The building sits on a slope with terraced levels, meaning entrances are located at different heights and the site is most easily approached from the lower areas. Visitors planning to explore the full grounds should expect some uneven terrain and staircases throughout the property.

The structure was deliberately designed to integrate with the existing tree stand on the site rather than clear it away, keeping the buildings surrounded by mature greenery. This harmony between built form and nature was uncommon for residential projects of the 1970s.
