Established in 1998, the park encompasses territories across Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Freixo de Espada à Cinta, and Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo municipalities.
Local communities within the park maintain traditional agricultural practices while preserving native almond tree orchards that bloom spectacularly each February.
The park administration center operates in Mogadouro, providing visitors with information about marked trails and observation points throughout the protected area.
The park serves as a critical nesting ground for Egyptian vultures, which have become a recognized symbol of this natural reserve.
