Forshaga is a municipality in Värmland that comprises several settlements spread across forested terrain and lakeland. The area functions as a local center where small towns and villages cluster around a main administrative hub with a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial zones.

The area became an official market town in 1944 following separation from Grava, and later joined with Ullerud in 1974 to form the current municipality. Industrial development, particularly in forestry and paper production, shaped its growth over the decades.

Local government initiatives include providing free menstrual products in public facilities to advance gender equality throughout the community.

The municipality is best explored by car since settlements are spread across the territory and are not centrally concentrated. Visitors should expect driving between different areas and come prepared for the forested and rural character of the region.

Olympic high jump gold medalist Stefan Holm, who won his title in 2004, hails from this municipality. His achievements brought international recognition to the area as the birthplace of an elite athlete.
