Przełęcz Tetmajera, Mountain pass in Poprad District, Slovakia.
Przełęcz Tetmajera is a mountain pass in the High Tatras that sits at about 2563 meters and links Gerlach peak with Zadni Gerlach. Two large ravines drop away from the pass toward Wielicka Valley and Batyżowiecka Valley below.
The pass was first climbed in summer 1895 by Janusz Chmielowski and Jedrzej Wala Jr., a milestone for mountaineering in the region. It was later named after Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajera, an important figure in advancing climbing in the Tatras.
The mountain pass received its name to honor Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajera, who made significant contributions to the development of Tatra Mountains climbing community.
Climbers need safety equipment including a helmet, carabiners, wedges, and a rope about 35 meters long for the technical sections. Experience with climbing and secure movement at high altitude are required.
The two ravines are named after Ludwig Darmstädter and explorer Jedrzej Wala Jr., showing the long history of exploration in this region. These names honor the early climbers who first conquered this difficult route.
