Engels Peak, Mountain summit in Shahdarin Range, Tajikistan.
Engels Peak is a mountain in the Shahdarin Range that rises to 6510 meters in elevation. Steep rock faces and glacial features shape its appearance, especially along the northern and southern slopes.
The mountain was originally known as Tsaritsa Peak, named after Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna. During the Soviet era, it received its current name in honor of philosopher Friedrich Engels.
The peak carries a name rooted in Soviet history and holds importance in regional mountaineering circles. Local guides have maintained climbing traditions here for generations.
Climbers approach the summit through base camps located in the Kishte-Dzherob valley at around 4100 meters. The warmer summer months provide the best conditions for climbing attempts.
The peak offers around 22 different climbing routes with varying difficulty levels. This variety makes it one of the most technically demanding climbing destinations in Central Asia.
