Chitral Museum

Chitral Museum is a museum in Chitral, Pakistan, divided into two main sections: the Ethnological Gallery displaying local artifacts and the Archaeological Gallery featuring Gandhara antiquities from excavations. The institution also maintains a reference library and audio-visual archive, along with life-sized figures of key historical figures.

The museum was founded in 2010 by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage and preserves the history of Muslim rule from the Ghaznavids through the Mughals. This establishment allowed the region's past to be systematically documented and protected.

The collection includes traditional garments from Kohistan, copper jewelry, and hunting tools that reflect daily life in the Chitral Valley. These objects show the craftsmanship and customs that have shaped the region's communities for generations.

Archaeological discoveries from the Sangoor and Parwak excavation sites include pottery, stone beads, spearheads, and jewelry that provide insight into ancient settlement. These local findings are rare evidence of cultures that inhabited this region in distant times.
