Falak Sar is a mountain in Swat District that rises to approximately 5918 meters and forms part of the Hindu Raj range. Its terrain includes steep slopes and numerous glaciers spread across the peak.
The first documented ascent took place in 1957 when New Zealanders W.K.A Berry and C.H. Tyndale-Biscoe reached the summit via the north ridge. This early success paved the way for later expeditions to explore the peak.
In 2020, Pakistani mountaineer Hamza Anees led a team to the summit, marking a significant advancement for the national climbing community.
Climbers reach this summit by traveling from Peshawar through Saidu Sharif to the Matiltan valley, where the ascent begins. The best climbing window falls during warmer months when conditions are more stable.
A Japanese expedition from Yamagata University established their base camp at 3350 meters and successfully summited after multiple attempts. This camp elevation is typical for climbing routes in the region.
