Saraghrar is a mountain summit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that rises to 7,338 meters elevation. The peak is surrounded by steep granite walls and glacial formations that dominate the landscape.
The first successful climb of the Northeast peak occurred in 1959 when an Italian team led by Fosco Maraini reached the summit. The team crossed the Niroghi Glacier to accomplish this ascent.
Multiple Catalan mountaineering expeditions in the 1970s and 1980s established new routes on the mountain, contributing to its climbing development.
Reaching the summit requires approximately two days of trekking from Zondrangram village. The village is accessible by jeep in around six hours from Chitral Town, and local porters are available to support climbing expeditions.
Georgian climbers achieved the first ascent of the Northwest face in 2021 using alpine-style climbing techniques. This feat earned them the prestigious Piolet d'Or award for their eight-day expedition.
