Danghara District, Administrative district in Khatlon Province, Tajikistan
Danghara District is an administrative region in southwestern Tajikistan within Khatlon Province, covering approximately 2,000 square kilometers. It consists of one main town and eight smaller administrative divisions that each manage their own local affairs.
The district was founded on July 8, 1932, and experienced several changes to its administrative boundaries over time. Following Tajikistan's independence, the region became part of Khatlon Province.
Tajik is the main language you hear in everyday life, while Russian connects people across different communities in the district. These two languages shape how locals interact and communicate with each other.
The district is organized into eight administrative subdivisions called jamoats: Korez, Lohur, Lolazor, Oqsu, Pushing, Sangtuda, Sebiston, and Sharipov. Each jamoat handles local governance and serves as the main point of contact for residents dealing with administrative matters.
The town of Danghara, the district capital, was considered in 2012 as a possible new location for Tajikistan's capital due to infrastructure developments there. This proposal reflected the city's growing role as a potential national administrative hub.
