Tajik National Park

The national park extends across 26,116 square kilometers of mountains, featuring high-altitude lakes, glaciers, valleys, and snow-covered peaks reaching 4,700 meters.

The park received its protected status in 1992 through Decision No. 267 of the Tajikistan government, following scientific studies conducted at Pamir-90 international camp.

Traditional Tajik nomadic communities maintain their way of life within the park boundaries, offering visitors opportunities to experience local customs in yurt settlements.

Access to the park requires extensive preparation due to high altitudes, with recommended arrangements for local guides and permits through authorized agencies in Dushanbe.

The reserve protects populations of Marco Polo sheep and snow leopards within its boundaries, making it a center for wildlife conservation in Central Asia.
