Peshchera Kov-Ata

The cave extends 250 meters in length with a central hall containing a mineral-rich underground lake measuring 75 meters long and 14 meters deep.

Scientists first documented the cave in 1896, although archaeological evidence suggests human presence in this location for over 2000 years.

The underground lake attracts visitors from across Turkmenistan who come to experience the mineral-rich waters containing 38 different chemical elements.

Visitors access the underground lake through a 350-step illuminated staircase descending 55 meters below the surface entrance of the cave.

The cave maintains a constant water temperature between 33 and 38 degrees Celsius throughout the year and houses six species of bats.
