Özlüce Dam, Embankment dam and hydroelectric station in Bingöl and Elazığ Provinces, Turkey.
Özlüce Dam is an embankment dam and hydroelectric facility situated along the Peri River between Bingöl and Elazığ provinces. The structure rises 144 meters above ground and impounds water behind it to support power generation and regional water management.
Construction began in 1992 under Turkey's State Hydraulic Works and was completed in 2000. This project formed part of regional efforts to develop hydroelectric resources along the Peri River.
The dam represents Turkey's dedication to renewable energy development, serving as a central element in the nation's hydroelectric infrastructure network.
The dam can be viewed from the road connecting the two provinces that border it. Visitors should keep in mind that this is an active power station and access is limited to designated public viewing areas.
This facility is part of a cascade system on the Peri River where water flows through multiple dams for power generation. The arrangement allows water to be used repeatedly as it descends downriver for increased energy output.
