Selinus, Archaeological site in Gazipaşa, Turkey.

The ruins of Selinus extend across a hilltop peninsula, featuring ancient walls, a cistern, and structures overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Emperor Trajan died at Selinus in 117 AD, leading to the temporary renaming of the settlement to Trajanopolis in recognition of this event.

The architectural remains demonstrate multiple influences through time periods, from Hellenistic and Roman to Byzantine and Armenian construction methods.

The archaeological site requires sturdy walking shoes and protective clothing due to the uneven terrain and dense vegetation covering the ancient structures.

A bronze Pegasus statue dating from 300 BC was discovered in 2004 in the waters near Selinus and now resides in Alanya Museum.
