Ehmedek Kalesi, Medieval fortress in Alanya, Turkey
The fortress features multiple defensive walls, towers, and ancient structures standing on the northern side of a castle hill near the Mediterranean coast.
The construction incorporated sections of Hellenistic fortifications and served as a military garrison, treasury, and arsenal during Seljuk and Ottoman rule.
The fortress complex includes the 13th-century Mosque of Suleiman, displaying Ottoman religious architecture with its single minaret and traditional design elements.
Visitors can reach the fortress by cable car, which provides an alternative to walking up the hill from the harbor area.
The name Ehmedek derives from the Chagatai language word 'açmedek,' which translates to 'the castle in the fortified area.'
