Alanya Archaeological Museum, Archaeological museum in Alanya, Turkey.
Alanya Archaeological Museum displays ceramics, marble, bronze and glass objects alongside mosaics spanning the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. The collection is organized into two main sections to present these different eras.
The museum was established in 1967 and received its initial collection from the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara, including artifacts from early Bronze Age excavations. These objects document the long history of settlement and trade activity in the region.
The exhibits showcase handmade bags, garments, and textiles created by the Yörük people, reflecting local craft traditions. You can see everyday objects that this community produced over many generations.
The museum is located in downtown Alanya near Cleopatra Beach with descriptions in English and Turkish. The exhibits are easily accessible and situated in a quiet location, allowing you to view the collections at a comfortable pace.
The museum houses a 52-centimeter bronze statue of Hercules from the 2nd century, which displays remarkable detail and craftsmanship. Additionally, the collection contains a Phoenician inscription dating to 625 BC that was discovered in the Laertes area.
