Ayder

Ayder is a mountain hamlet in Rize Province situated at roughly 1220 meters elevation, surrounded by dense forests and rolling green meadows in the Black Sea region. The terrain rises gently across the landscape, with sweeping views across wooded valleys and hillsides.

The settlement displays traditional wooden houses built in the style common to Black Sea mountain villages, where locals continue making specialty Rhododendron honey from forest beehives. This craft remains woven into daily life and the relationship between people and the surrounding woodland.

The location is reached by a lengthy drive from Trabzon, making it a destination requiring travel time to access. Accommodations include basic guesthouses and mountain lodges suited to different preferences and budgets.

The thermal springs here maintain a steady temperature year-round, credited with healing properties in local tradition. This natural feature sets the place apart from other highland destinations in the region.
