Ala Bridge, Stone bridge in Anamur district, Turkey.
Ala Bridge is a stone structure crossing the Göksu River through a narrow valley in the Toros Mountains. It consists of regularly layered stones and connects two rocky banks with a simple arch design.
The structure was built during the Karamanoglu dynasty in the 14th century under Alaeddin Halil Bey. An Arabic inscription on the bridge marks its construction period.
The bridge displays traditional Turkish craftsmanship with carefully cut stones fitted together without mortar. Locals connect its name to the ruler of its era, seeing it as a symbol of that period's engineering skill.
The bridge sits on the road between Ermenek and Anamur and is easy to reach. You can walk around the area freely and take in the river valleys and mountain slopes surrounding it.
During the 1960s the structure was extended and its original surface design was changed. These modifications adapted it for modern traffic while altering its historical appearance.
