100th Anniversary Nature Park, Nature park on Mediterranean coast in Mersin, Turkey
The 100th Anniversary (Gümüşkum) Nature Park is a protected area on the Mediterranean coast featuring a wide sandy beach bordered by pine and eucalyptus trees. The site spans approximately 23 hectares and provides direct access to the sea with natural shoreline sections.
The area was established as a recreation zone in 1977 and received nature park status in 2011 under the Ministry of Environment and Forest. It has since been managed as a protected site by the state.
The name Gümüşkum means Silver Sand in Turkish, referring to the pale color of the beach's sand grains. Visitors come to the shore to rest and spend time away from busy areas.
The park is accessible via the D.400 highway connecting Mersin to Silifke, with clearly marked entrance areas. Visitors should arrive early in the day to find the best conditions and avoid excessive heat.
The site operates a specialized center for the treatment and rehabilitation of sea turtles. Here injured loggerhead and green sea turtles are cared for, with many nesting on the beach sections.
