Hehuan North Peak is a mountain in Ren'ai Township, Taiwan, reaching 3,422 meters in elevation. The summit area features rolling grasslands crossed by well-marked trails for hikers.
The mountain gained prominence in 1913 when an expedition team encountered a severe storm during an early attempt to survey the peak. This tragic event marked a turning point in how high-altitude mountain exploration was approached on the island.
The mountain forms part of Taiwan's Bai Yue collection, representing significant peaks that attract hikers throughout the year to experience high-altitude environments.
Access to the summit is easiest via Highway 14, which reaches the Wuling area at 3,275 meters, from where trails ascend to the top. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear and bring weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions change rapidly at this elevation.
This location earned Dark Sky Park certification in 2019 and offers exceptional conditions for stargazing. The high elevation and minimal light pollution create excellent opportunities to view the night sky in remarkable detail.
