Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve, Wildlife reserve in Ntoroko District, Uganda.

The reserve spans 542 square kilometers between Lake Albert and Rwenzori Mountains, featuring acacia woodlands, grasslands, palm forests, and riparian zones.

Established in 1926 by British authorities, the reserve initially protected large populations of Uganda Kobs and became one of the first protected areas in Uganda.

Four communities inhabit the area, including Bakonjo farmers, Batuku pastoralists, fishing communities near Lake Albert, and Bakiga agricultural settlers.

Visitors can access the reserve through multiple routes from Kampala, with distances ranging from 290 to 465 kilometers depending on the chosen path.

The reserve contains a population of 70 chimpanzees studied by Indiana University researchers due to their adaptation to different environmental conditions.
