1520 AD Biharwe Eclipse Monument, National monument near Igongo Cultural Center, Mbarara District, Uganda.

The three granite pillars of the monument rise against the sky, with a spherical feature on top representing the solar eclipse of 1520.

This monument marks the site where King Olimi I of Bunyoro abandoned his cattle and warriors during a solar eclipse on April 17, 1520.

The pillars represent three kings: Nakibinge of Buganda, Olimi I of Bunyoro, and Ntare I of Nkole, who ruled their kingdoms during this period.

The monument stands near the Igongo Cultural Center, where visitors can learn about the historical connections between the Great Lakes kingdoms.

The spherical structure at the monument's peak creates evolving ground shadows throughout the day, simulating the progression of an eclipse.
