Green Lantern, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey
Green Lantern is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, with a 1.3-kilometer track that includes five inversions and reaches speeds of 101 kilometers per hour (63 miles per hour). The structure rises 47 meters (154 feet) tall and runs for about two minutes per ride.
The coaster first opened as Chang at Kentucky Kingdom in 1997 and operated there until 2009. After being relocated to New Jersey, it began operating under its new name at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2011.
The coaster takes its name from a DC Comics character and uses green tones across the track and trains to match that theme. Visitors ride standing upright, which requires a construction style built specifically for that riding position.
Visitors must meet minimum height requirements and are secured with shoulder harnesses before boarding. Wait times vary depending on park attendance, with early mornings or late afternoons often offering quieter periods.
When it opened at its original location, the ride held several records for coasters where riders stand, including height and number of inversions. This type of coaster belongs to a relatively rare design style now found in only a few places worldwide.
