Municipio Chacao, Administrative division in Caracas, Venezuela
Chacao is an administrative municipality in the eastern part of Caracas, located in the mid-eastern portion of the Caracas Valley north of the Guaire River. The area contains residential neighborhoods, commercial zones, and public facilities that serve the local population.
The settlement developed after the San Bernabé earthquake in 1641 and took its name from the Indian leader Chacao who defended the territory in 1567. Later it became an important administrative center within the Caracas Valley.
Art exhibitions and theater performances happen regularly in local venues throughout the area. Visitors can experience contemporary works and traditional shows that reflect the interests of residents.
The municipality has public offices, schools, and health centers that serve residents and visitors. Main streets are well-organized for getting around, and several transportation options are available throughout the area.
