Đồng Nai, Industrial province in southern Vietnam.
Đồng Nai is a province east of Ho Chi Minh City with forests, rivers, and hilly terrain. The landscape shifts from dense tree cover in the north to flatter agricultural zones in the south, crossed by waterways and industrial areas.
The area once belonged to the Champa kingdom before becoming part of Vietnam in the 17th century. The province developed into a center for factories and manufacturing after 1975.
The name comes from the Đồng Nai River, which flows through the region and has shaped farming and trade for centuries. Visitors today see rice paddies along the riverbanks and small communities maintaining traditional crafts such as pottery and weaving.
Major roads such as Route 1A run from Ho Chi Minh City through the province, linking larger towns. Travelers heading to forested areas should start early in the morning when temperatures are cooler.
Cat Tien National Park is home to a small population of Javan rhinos, among the rarest mammals on Earth. At night, visitors in some forest sections hear the calls of gibbons, which are most active at sunrise.
