Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport, airport in service in the Gazipaşa, Anamur, Alanya, Kargıcak, Kestel, Payallar, Avsallar, Okurcalar, Kızılağaç and Side areas of the Antalya Province in Turkey
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport is a small airport in the coastal town of Gazipaşa in southern Turkey, serving mainly tourist flights from Europe. The terminal building contains check-in counters, waiting areas, a few shops, and small cafes that create a straightforward yet comfortable travel environment.
The airport opened in 2010 after planning began in 1991, with several years of construction delays. In 2008, a private company called TAV took over operations and upgraded the facilities, which allowed for more flights and improved passenger services.
The airport's name reflects its role as a gateway to both Gazipaşa and Alanya, two towns that welcome holiday visitors from across Europe. It sits at the intersection of modern travel and the relaxed rhythm of southern Turkey's coast, where arriving passengers immediately sense the proximity to sea and mountains.
The airport is located about 25 miles (41 kilometers) from central Alanya and is accessible by taxi, bus, or rental car with a journey time of roughly one hour. Check-in is straightforward and efficient due to the small terminal size, and staff provide helpful support throughout your visit.
A distinctive feature is the runway extension project that began in 2013, which included building an innovative underground passage beneath the main road without interrupting traffic. This was the first use of such a design in Turkey and allowed larger aircraft to operate from here.
