Rakhiv Raion, Administrative district in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine.
Rakhiv Raion is an administrative district in western Ukraine with numerous villages and small urban centers including Kobyletska Poliana, Velykyi Bychkiv, and Yasinia. The district shares borders with Romania and Hungary and contains various settlements connected by local roads.
The district took its present form during Ukraine's 2020 administrative reform, which merged several smaller districts into one larger unit. This reorganization combined historically separate areas into a single administrative area.
The communities here speak Ukrainian, Romanian, and Hungarian, each maintaining their own customs and ways of life that shape daily interactions. You can see this diversity reflected in the villages and in how the different groups coexist within the region.
The area is connected by a network of roads linking the various settlements together. The hilly or mountainous terrain can affect travel conditions, so it helps to check local conditions before moving around.
Near the village of Dilove stands a marker from 1887 that marks the geographical center of Europe based on calculations from that time. This historical point draws visitors interested in this geographic reference point.
