Drachen Fire, Steel roller coaster in Busch Gardens Williamsburg, United States
Drachen Fire was a steel roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Virginia, spanning 3,550 feet with five inversions along its blue-painted track. The structure rose to 150 feet (46 meters) above the theme park grounds and carried passengers through a series of twists and turns.
Arrow Dynamics built this roller coaster, which opened in April 1992 and closed in July 1998. The park dismantled the entire installation by 2002 and removed it from the grounds.
Comedian Dana Carvey participated in the preview opening ceremony on April 3, 1992, as part of the promotional campaign.
The trains seated 28 riders in seven cars, arranged two across in two rows, and reached speeds of 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour). After the 1994 season, technicians replaced one corkscrew section with a straight track to improve rider comfort.
