Pantheon, Steel roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia, US
Pantheon is a steel roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Virginia. The structure reaches a height of 178 feet (54 meters) and carries riders through five airtime moments and a descent tilted at 95 degrees.
The attraction was announced in 2019 as Project MMXX and was originally scheduled to open earlier. Delays caused by the pandemic meant the ride only became accessible to the public in March 2022.
The name comes from the ancient Roman temple dedicated to all gods, and today visitors encounter five different mythological figures from that period along the track. Each deity appears at a specific section of the ride, turning the experience into a playful encounter with Roman mythology.
Riders must meet height requirements between 52 and 76 inches (132 and 193 centimeters) to ensure proper safety restraint fit. The journey itself lasts about two minutes and reaches speeds up to 73 miles per hour (117 kilometers per hour).
The track uses a swing launch between a vertical tower and a top hat, with the train accelerating at three different points. This mechanism creates changing speeds within the same section before the ride fully begins.
