Asrafia Jame Masjid, Mughal mosque in Amlapara, Narayanganj, Bangladesh.
The Asrafia Jame Masjid is a Mughal-era structure characterized by vertical architectural elements and small domes positioned at each corner of the roof. A prominent mihrab adorns the western wall with ornamental craftsmanship.
Construction commenced in 1890 when Rahim Bakhsh Haji and Ahladi Bibi acquired land from Harendra Kumar Roy Chowdhury for charitable use. This founding established the foundation for the building that stands today.
The mihrab displays Arabic calligraphy and detailed patterns created from colored glass stones in shades of blue, green, yellow, brown, and white.
The mosque is situated in Amlapara along K B Shaha By Lane in Narayanganj district, making it accessible to those interested in exploring Mughal architecture. Allow adequate time to observe the craftsmanship and architectural features carefully.
During a planned renovation in 2002, the decision was made to preserve only three original elements: the dome, mihrab, and minaret. The rest of the building was modernized while these three distinctive features were kept intact.
