Tête de l'Etret, Mountain summit in Massif des Écrins, France

The Tête de l'Etret reaches an elevation of 3,559 meters and stands between the Étages valley and the Lavey valley in the French Alps.

The first recorded ascent of Tête de l'Etret took place on September 4, 1876, by Emmanuel Boileau de Castelnau with Pierre Gaspard senior and junior.

Mountain guides from the region have passed down their knowledge of access routes and climbing techniques through generations for over a century.

Reaching the summit requires complete mountaineering equipment, and climbers typically start their ascent from the Lavey mountain refuge on the southern slope.

From the peak, mountaineers can observe neighboring summits including Tête des Fétoules at 3,459 meters and Pointe de l'Aiglière at 3,403 meters.
