The Magas-bakonyi Tájvédelmi Körzet is a landscape park covering rolling terrain with thick forests, natural springs, and marked hiking trails throughout. The area features different woodland habitats and hills that visitors can explore on foot across the protected zone.
The protected area was established in 1991 by ministerial decree to preserve the landscape. The region maintains roughly 84 percent of its original forest coverage today.
The landscape park contains the Saint Maurice Monastery, founded in 1018, along with the Csesznek Castle and ancient burial mounds from different historical periods.
The park has multiple marked trails suited to different fitness levels and available time. Most paths are easily accessible and most pleasant to walk during warmer months.
The park contains more than thirty caves such as Ördöglik and Odvas-kői formed within limestone rock. These underground features are among the notable geological attractions that draw visitors interested in cave exploration.
