Kab Hill

Kab Hill is a 599-meter summit in the Southern Bakony region positioned between Úrkút and Nagyvázsony, with broad slopes shaped by multiple basalt lava flows. The mountain's structure reveals the volcanic processes that formed this distinctive landscape feature.

The summit took its shape during the Pliocene period when basalt erupted through Triassic limestone and dolomite substrates and cooled into solid rock. These ancient volcanic events fundamentally influenced the geological character of the entire region.

The hill holds local significance as a landmark in the Southern Bakony region and serves as a gathering point for visitors seeking elevated vistas. People use the summit to experience the expansive views across the surrounding landscape.

The summit is accessible via the national road 73114, which branches from route 7308 near Úrkút and covers 4.8 kilometers to the top. The drive is straightforward and brings visitors directly to the summit area.

The hill houses a 219-meter television tower built in 1962 alongside a separate 133-meter radio tower that stands nearby. These structures remain visible from considerable distances and serve as technological landmarks across the landscape.
