Roopangarh Fort, فندق في الهند
Roopangarh Fort is a 17th-century fortified structure in Ajmer district, Rajasthan, that now operates as a heritage hotel. It has around twenty rooms and suites, furnished with traditional pieces and antiques.
The fort was built in 1648 by Maharaja Roop Singh of Kishangarh as a defensive structure to protect the surrounding region. In 1999, the then Maharaja had it converted into a hotel while keeping the original appearance largely intact.
The stone walls and carved archways of the fort reflect the building style common to the princely states of Rajasthan. The halls and rooms display handmade furniture and wall paintings made by local craftspeople from the surrounding area.
The fort is in Ajmer district and can be reached by road, rail, or air. A stay during the cooler months, from October to March, tends to be more comfortable given the region's climate.
The hotel arranges traditional puppet shows, dance, and music performances that put guests in direct contact with local art forms. From here, visitors can also reach Sambhar Lake, one of the largest salt lakes in India and a noted bird-watching area.
