TERI School of Advanced Studies, sustainability-focused university in Delhi, India
The TERI School of Advanced Studies is a university in the Vasant Kunj area of New Delhi, focused on environmental sciences and sustainable development. The campus brings together teaching rooms, research laboratories, and digital library facilities designed for postgraduate study and applied research.
The school was established in 1998 by The Energy and Resources Institute to bring environmental research into a formal academic setting. It grew at a time when India was beginning to embed questions of energy and resource management more deeply into higher education.
The school takes its name from TERI, short for The Energy and Resources Institute, the body that founded it. Public lectures and seminars on environmental topics are regularly held on campus and are often open to outside visitors.
The campus is in Vasant Kunj and can be reached by the New Delhi Metro network and local buses. Visiting on a weekday gives a better sense of how the place works, as research facilities and common areas are in full use.
The school holds degree-granting status as a deemed university, even though it is far smaller than most state universities in India. This standing allows it to offer highly focused programs that larger institutions rarely provide.
