Rongqi Port, Cargo port in Shunde District, Foshan, China
Rongqi Port is a cargo facility on the Desheng River in Shunde District, Foshan, in Guangdong Province. It has several loading systems and offers ship repair, maintenance, and fuel supply services for vessels using the waterway.
The port was built in 1986 and started operations the following year. Passenger services ran here until 1998, when they were transferred to another facility.
Shunde District, where the port sits, is known across China for its furniture and home appliance manufacturing. Many of the goods moving through this facility come directly from nearby factories, making the port a working part of local industrial life.
The port is not open to the general public as it is an active cargo facility. Passing by on the Desheng River offers the best chance to observe the site from the outside.
Every vessel entering the port must carry a licensed pilot on board, because tidal movements on the Desheng River make navigation through the channel demanding. This requirement is unusual for a river port of this size and reflects how strongly the tides affect the water here.
