Xinzhai, Archaeological site in Xinmi, China

The excavation area contains multiple layers of settlement remains with preserved artifacts, pottery fragments, and structural foundations spanning several centuries.

Discovered in 1979, this Bronze Age settlement operated between 1870 BC and 1720 BC during the Xia dynasty period under the reign of King Qi.

The site exhibits a transition period between the Longshan and Erlitou cultures through its pottery styles, building methods, and ceremonial objects.

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences continue excavation work at the site, documenting new findings through systematic archaeological methods.

A 3,800-year-old pottery bird statue recovered from the site provides direct evidence of artistic capabilities during the early Bronze Age period.
