Tomb of Rekhmire, Ancient tomb in Sheikh Abd el-Qurna necropolis, Egypt
The interior chambers of the Tomb of Rekhmire contain detailed wall paintings that illustrate daily activities, including craftsmanship, agriculture, and administrative procedures from ancient Egypt.
Built during the 18th dynasty, this tomb belonged to Rekhmire, who served as vizier and governor of Upper Egypt under the reigns of Thutmose III and Amenhotep II.
The tomb walls display scenes of foreign delegations bringing tributes, demonstrating the international connections and diplomatic relations of ancient Egypt with neighboring territories.
The T-shaped structure extends through a 20-meter vestibule leading to a 25-meter chapel, featuring multiple chambers decorated with hieroglyphics and painted scenes.
Five distinct wall panels in the vestibule present a complete narrative of Theban life, from hunting and winemaking to the recording of gold collected as temple taxes.
