TT81, Noble tomb in Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, Egypt

TT81 is a rock-cut tomb in Sheikh Abd el-Qurna with a gallery lined by six square pillars that leads to a chamber. This chamber holds four monumental seated statues that define the burial site.

This tomb belonged to Ineni, a high-ranking official who served four different pharaohs during the 18th Dynasty. His career spanned a time of major changes in royal authority and political influence.

The walls show painted scenes of hunting, farming work, and offerings that show how people lived in ancient Egypt. These images reveal what this society valued in daily activities and religious practices.

The tomb sits on the western bank of the Nile River across from Luxor within the larger Theban Necropolis archaeological area. Visitors should know the interior has limited lighting and exploring involves navigating multiple levels.

The inscriptions here record details about Hatshepsut's reign, offering insight into a period of female rule in ancient Egypt. These texts make the site valuable for understanding how power shifted during this era.
