Rahmaniyah Island, River island in Beheira Governorate, Egypt.
Rahmaniyah Island is a river island on the Rosetta branch of the Nile, in the Beheira Governorate of northern Egypt, lying close to the town of Desouk. It sits at a low elevation near water level and is entirely surrounded by two water channels that form its natural borders.
The island formed gradually through sediment buildup in the Nile Delta and became part of the network of routes connecting settlements across northern Egypt. Its position on the Rosetta branch made it a natural point along river traffic moving between the coast and inland towns.
Fishing and farming are the main activities on the island, shaping how people move through it and use the land along the water's edge. Visitors can see nets, small boats, and cultivated plots as everyday parts of the landscape.
The island has no road connection, so getting there requires arranging a boat from one of the nearby towns. It is worth checking water conditions and local boat availability before you go.
The island sits at the point where the OBaid and Saqer channels meet and flow around it on both sides. This creates a pattern of waterways that looks different from most other parts of the Nile Delta when seen from above.
