KV38, Ancient tomb in Valley of the Kings, Egypt
The tomb structure extends 18.39 meters into the limestone rock formations of the Valley of the Kings, featuring architectural elements common to royal burials.
Victor Loret discovered this burial site in March 1899, originally constructed for Pharaoh Thutmose I during the prosperous 18th dynasty of Egypt.
The interior chambers of KV38 display traditional Egyptian funerary designs that reflect the complex religious beliefs about passage into the afterlife.
The tomb sits at an elevation of 190.36 meters above sea level, accessible through guided tours that explore the Valley of the Kings.
Thutmose III relocated his predecessor's remains to this tomb from another location, making it one of few Egyptian tombs with documented body transfers.
