Meerut division, Administrative division in Uttar Pradesh, India
Meerut division is an administrative region in northern Uttar Pradesh comprising six districts: Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, and Bagpat. It stretches from industrial centers to agricultural areas, forming an important zone between Delhi and the broader north.
The region was originally part of the North-Western Provinces under British rule and later integrated into the United Provinces of British India. After independence, it became part of modern Uttar Pradesh and underwent several administrative reorganizations.
Each district maintains its own character: Bulandshahr preserves traditional craftsmanship, Noida has grown into a tech hub, and rural areas continue agricultural practices. People here blend old and new in their everyday routines.
The region is overseen by a Commissioner who manages infrastructure, local institutions, and basic services across all districts. Visitors should know the area is well connected by road and rail, with various accommodation and food options available.
The area covers a large part of the National Capital Region and serves as an economic and logistical buffer between the metropolis of Delhi and the rest of the state. This position has made it a center for industry and rapid urbanization in recent decades.
