Munger University, University in Bihar, India
Munger University is a public university in Munger, Bihar, covering higher education across five districts of the state. Its campus is housed within the Science Block of R. D. & D. J. College, with classrooms, a library, open spaces, and old trees shading the grounds.
The university was established in 2018 when Bhagalpur University was divided and a new institution was created to take over higher education in this part of Bihar. It grew quickly to serve students across five districts who previously had fewer options for local higher education.
The university takes its name from the city it serves and draws students from surrounding villages and smaller towns. On campus, students gather for sports and cultural events that bring academic and social life together in one place.
The campus is in the heart of Munger and easy to reach on foot or by local transport from most parts of the city. Teaching takes place both in person and online, so students coming from farther away can manage their attendance more flexibly.
Munger sits close to the ruins of Nalanda and Vikramashila, two of the oldest centers of learning in the world, both active over a thousand years ago. This makes the area one of the few places on earth where ancient and modern higher education have existed in the same landscape.
