Province of Arezzo

The province spans 3,233 square kilometers across the Pratomagno mountains, Casentino ranges, and Tiber and Chiana valleys in central Italy.

The territory emerged from an Etruscan settlement called Aritim, later becoming a Roman stronghold named Arretium before falling under Florentine control until 1859.

The province maintains deep connections to goldsmithing traditions and hosts numerous antique markets throughout its 36 municipalities.

The provincial capital Arezzo connects to Florence through regular train services, while local buses link the various towns within the territory.

The Romito di Laterina, a geological formation within the province, appears in the background landscape of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting.
