Fujikawaguchiko

Fujikawaguchiko is a town in Minamitsuru district at the foothills of a major mountain, covering several hundred square kilometers. The settlement is home to three of the Fuji Lakes, whose clear waters shape the local landscape.

The town was established in 2003 from the merger of several neighboring settlements into a single administrative entity. This consolidation created a stronger governance structure for the region.

The town's identity is shaped by its location at the mountain's base, where traditional festivals like the winter Kojo Festival and autumn leaf celebration reflect how residents connect with nature throughout the year. These gatherings bring the community together and mark the seasonal rhythm of life in the region.

The town is well equipped with schools and accommodates several thousand people, supporting smooth daily operations. Visitors will find established infrastructure here to navigate and explore the surrounding area.

One of the three lakes is home to a remarkable fish population found nowhere else in the world. This biological distinction makes the lake a location of significant scientific interest and conservation importance.
