Sendai Sun Plaza, building in Miyagino-ku, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan
Sendai Sun Plaza is a twelve-story hotel in Miyagino-ku with a distinctive circular design. The building contains 74 guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and Sun Plaza Hall, a multi-level round events venue that accommodates up to 2,710 people.
The building opened in March 1993 and has served as a center for events and accommodation in Sendai ever since. Following the 2011 earthquake, safety features were upgraded to improve resistance against seismic activity.
The name "Sun Plaza" reflects the central gathering space created by its large circular hall. This venue serves as a focal point for local concerts, sports events, and community celebrations that bring together residents and visitors throughout the year.
The hotel sits just a short walk from Tsutsujigaoka Station, making it simple to arrive by public transportation and explore the city. Parking is available on-site with reasonable rates and free in-and-out privileges for guests.
The large circular hall is one of the largest in the Tohoku region and features specialized acoustics that project music and speeches clearly. Movable floors and flexible seating arrangements allow the space to transform quickly for different types of events.
