Sodegaura Park, Public park in Sodegaura, Japan.
Sodegaura Park sits along Tokyo Bay and spreads across roughly 8 hectares with two ponds, walking paths, playgrounds, and open green areas. An observation deck rises above the landscape, offering sightlines across the grounds and the bay.
The park opened in 2004 on land reclaimed from the sea along the industrial coastline. This transformation turned a former working waterfront into a public recreation area.
The flowering iris plants that bloom each June draw visitors seeking to experience Japanese horticultural traditions firsthand. The blooms attract photographers and nature enthusiasts who return year after year for this seasonal display.
Admission to the park is free and parking is available on-site for visitors. Barbecue and grill facilities are open on weekends and public holidays if you want to bring food to cook.
The observation tower stands 25 meters high and reveals views of Mount Fuji, Tokyo Skytree, and the bay beyond. On clear nights, the illuminated Yokohama skyline appears across the water, making the tower a worthwhile climb.
