Objectifs, Photography and film center in Bugis, Singapore
Objectifs is an arts center dedicated to photography and film located at Middle Road, occupying two connected structures. One building is a former chapel converted into a gallery for exhibitions and screenings, while the adjacent two-story structure houses additional gallery spaces and workshop studios.
The center was founded in 2003 and relocated twice, first moving to Arab Street in 2009 before settling at its current Middle Road location in 2015. These moves reflect the organization's expanding role within Singapore's creative community.
The center hosts regular exhibitions and film screenings that showcase both local and international photography and filmmaking. Visitors encounter working artists and can join workshops that reveal how these visual media shape contemporary storytelling.
The center is easily reached by public transport with several MRT stations nearby within walking distance. The grounds are flat and straightforward to navigate, making it accessible for visitors with varying mobility needs.
The center runs an annual documentary award program that supports photographers telling stories from their own communities. This initiative has helped bring forward overlooked local perspectives and narratives that might otherwise remain hidden.
