Gushan District

Gushan District is an administrative area in Kaohsiung covering approximately 140,000 residents across nearly 15 square kilometers. It comprises roughly 38 villages with mixed residential and coastal neighborhoods.

The area was shaped by its harbor, which played a role in Taiwan's maritime history. Preserved structures like the former British Consulate document the trading paths of the past.

The National Sun Yat-sen University shapes daily life here and draws students from across the region. This academic center gives the area its intellectual character and brings activity throughout the year.

A ferry service connects this district with the neighboring Cijin area and operates from early morning until late night. The area sits along the coast at multiple points and offers good public transportation access.

The Pier-2 Art Center converted old warehouses into exhibition spaces for contemporary art and now draws art lovers to the waterfront. This former industrial site has become an unexpected cultural destination.
